Review

Today I went out to eat with friends and happened to remember a group-buy voucher I had saved earlier. For 130 yuan it included lamb, fish head, half a Zhanjiang chicken, and side ingredients like bean curd sticks. It felt like good value, so we drove straight over.

After arriving, we found it wasn’t too crowded and parking was free. Not long after parking, the food came out, and the whole experience was quite comfortable. The lamb portion in the set looked generous, labeled as three jin, but in reality it didn’t feel like that much. The chicken was quite fresh and tasted good.

The real surprise was the pot of congee at the end! After finishing the lamb and fish head, we realized the soup base in the pot was so flavorful that not using it to cook congee would be a shame. So we added 48 yuan and bought Bombay duck fish and fresh small squid, plus three eggs and a portion of choy sum, and cooked a big pot of congee directly.

The steaming pot of congee soaked up the umami of the fish soup and lamb, and everyone ate until it was completely gone. The satisfaction was beyond words! Overall, the 130-yuan group-buy set plus 48 yuan of extra dishes left several of us quite satisfied. Although the lamb portion fell a bit short, the ingredients were fresh, the soup base was delicious, parking was free, and the overall value was still good.

I especially recommend trying the final soup-base congee — it’s definitely the hidden way to eat this meal! I’ll come again if I get the chance.
