Review

Today I suddenly felt like eating steak. While scrolling through reviews, I happened to see that this place has a lunch set for less than 69 yuan. I originally thought, how good could it be at this price? But after finishing, I seriously think this place is a bit underrated.

I came during National Day holiday, and Wanhua Li was not as crowded as I imagined; parking was easy to find too. When I entered, there were only two or three tables of customers. I sat down and ordered the set, and the whole process was easy.

This lunch set is very simple:

🥩 150g beef blade steak

🥣 Creamy pumpkin soup / lemon tea, choose one

💰 Less than 69 yuan

I chose the pumpkin soup. First, this soup was a pleasant surprise. It was very smooth on the palate, with a rich milky aroma but not overly sweet, and the portion was noticeably larger than pumpkin soup at typical Western restaurants. If I rated it alone, the pumpkin soup would get 90 points.

Then the steak arrived. I ordered it medium, and the chef had already cut it for me. The thickness was about 1–1.5 cm, and 150g is a moderate portion. What really impressed me was the texture and the sauce. Nowadays many cheap steaks are marinated, reconstituted steaks, and you can still tell the difference from a whole-muscle cut. This one had good freshness and texture. And you must try this green sauce! It’s not the common black pepper sauce; it has a bit of a chive + garlic aroma, and it really enhances the steak.

After that bite, I even thought: at less than 69 yuan, am I expecting too much?

Of course, it’s not a high-end steak that costs several hundred yuan, so you can’t judge it by the standards of a top steakhouse. But given the price of less than 69 yuan, I think the value for money is really high.

It’s especially suitable when you don’t know what to eat at noon but want a little sense of ceremony. If you like steak but don’t want to spend hundreds of yuan, I think you should bookmark this place. At least after this meal, I’ve silently remembered it.
