Fengze (Pingzhou Branch)「豐澤(平洲店)」

Review

Today at mealtime, when I didn’t know what to eat, I thought of Fengze. This place has been open in Pingzhou for over ten years, so it’s a long-standing neighborhood restaurant that mainly serves surrounding locals. I used to order delivery from them more often; I haven’t actually eaten in the restaurant all that much.

After sitting down and looking over the menu, it was mostly common Cantonese-style set meals. This time I ordered the black pepper steak rice: 30 yuan on its own, 38 yuan as a set with a drink, plus 1 yuan tea fee, totaling 39 yuan.

The taste and quality were actually fine; the steak rice was consistently good, I’d say about 80 points. But one thing was quite obvious: dining in felt less cost-effective than getting delivery. The delivery platforms often have promotions and coupons, so the same money might get it a bit cheaper; dining in is a straight 39 yuan.

Overall, this is the kind of old neighborhood restaurant that won’t amaze you but basically won’t let you down. On a day when you really can’t think of what to eat in Pingzhou, it’s fine to come here for a simple meal; the quality has been quite stable.
