Xie Ji Dashu Barbecue (Nanhai Guicheng Jade Store)「谢记大树烤肉(南海桂城玉器店)」

Review

Xie Ji Dashu Barbecue has been open on Jade Street for quite a long time, and I’ve passed by many times. Today I finally had time to come and try it. Looking at it, it seems to be a chain restaurant, with several locations in Foshan, positioning itself as an affordable barbecue option. I bought a set meal for two for about 79 yuan, which includes four portions of meat, plus some vegetables and dipping sauces. At this price, it’s indeed not expensive for two people, and the portion sizes are decent.

As for the taste, I’d say don’t set your expectations too high. The quality of the meat is average; freshness is fine, but nothing really impressed me. Overall, it’s a very ordinary, home-style barbecue meal.

But then again, for 79 yuan for two people to have barbecue, you can’t really compare it to places that cost one or two hundred yuan or more. At this price point, with this portion size and quality, I think it’s fair for the price. If you just want a simple barbecue meal on an ordinary day and care about value for money, you can give it a try. But if you’re particular about meat quality and barbecue standards, you might find this place a bit ordinary.
