I’ve passed by this place in Pingzhou many times, and today I finally had time to come in and try it. Seeing that they serve Chaozhou cuisine, I already felt good about it—after all, the most important thing about Chaoshan cuisine is freshness, in two words.

I’ve had this kind of sliced chicken hot pot quite a few times before. I heard Shantou’s innovative free-range chicken hot pot is very famous, but unfortunately I never had the chance to go there, so today I came to try this place first.

I was alone, so I just ordered the 118 yuan set for 2-3 people.

I arrived around 4:45 p.m.; they officially start serving at 5 p.m. The staff were having dinner at that time, so I sat and waited for a while. Once it was time, they started serving quickly, and the speed was quite fast.

The main point is the chicken.

The chicken looked very fresh at first glance—it should be freshly slaughtered. After being sliced into thin pieces and cooked in the pot, the first bite was a pleasant surprise: tender, smooth, and full of chicken flavor.

I’ve tried several similar sliced chicken hot pots before, and this one has the best texture I’ve had so far. As for how it compares to those famous Shantou places, I won’t judge carelessly since I haven’t eaten there.

Actually, after eating just the chicken, I was already quite full. Then I had some spring vegetables and the complimentary cuttlefish cake, reaching 9.9 out of 10 fullness.

I really couldn’t fit the yuba and crab roe noodles anymore. It can’t be helped—one person forcing down a set for two or three people was already my best effort.

I also glanced at their other ingredients, and they all looked fresh. The boss told me they also have Chaoshan lo shui hot pot, which piqued my interest.

Next time I must bring more people and try the lo shui hot pot.

Those in Pingzhou who like Chaoshan flavors can come try this place. At least today’s meal did not disappoint me.
