Today I came to Changzhou Island. At mealtime, I searched nearby, saw Jingu had a pretty high rating, and decided to give it a try.

My first impression at the restaurant was indeed good—the decor is quite impressive, though the prices aren’t cheap. Roast goose is 108 yuan, braised pigeon 68 yuan, and most dim sum is around 30 yuan. I didn’t expect business to be so good on a Sunday; we had to wait almost 20 minutes for a table.

We ordered a pot of tea, roast goose, braised pigeon, mango pomelo sago, and a spring roll.

Then the first hiccup came: the server, maybe too busy, never entered the spring roll into the system, so it was never served from beginning to end.

Since I was already pretty full after the first few dishes, I didn’t bother chasing it up later.

What I found a bit regrettable was the roast goose.

When the roast goose arrived, there was a candle underneath for keeping it warm, but the server didn’t light it. It was okay at first, but as we ate it got colder and colder, and the skin gradually went soft. Later I raised it with the lobby manager, and he took it to reheat it, but once this kind of thing gets cold and is reheated, the texture really can’t come back, so we barely ate any of it in the end.

I think this is a matter of service details and training. After all, a roast goose costs 108 yuan, so it isn’t cheap, and they should pay attention to the most basic serving details like this.

That said, the lobby manager’s attitude afterward was okay. He took the initiative to waive the tea fee and the mango pomelo sago, which was an attempt to make up for it. So I think it may have just been that Sunday was too crowded and the staff were overwhelmed, so service couldn’t keep up.

At this point, I was ready to let this meal go.

But I never expected that the truly speechless part was still to come…

After paying, we went to get our car. They use a mechanical parking garage here, and as it turned out—the garage broke down, and my car was stuck up there and couldn’t come down! 😅

By the time I’m writing this review, I’ve been waiting below for about half an hour, and the car is still hanging up there.

What’s even more ridiculous is that the staff on site said this mechanical garage seems to have had problems before… The garage brand is Guangri!

So a final heads-up for friends planning to eat here: If there are other parking spots available, try not to park in the mechanical garage. How the meal goes is one thing; finishing your meal and finding your car ‘can’t come down’ is another kind of mood entirely.

Overall, the environment is indeed nice, and the lobby manager’s attitude in handling the problem was okay. But today, from the missing order and the unheated roast goose to the final garage breakdown, the whole experience was a bit hard to describe.

I can only say—what impressed me most about this meal was not the roast goose, but my car still hanging in midair.
