Review

Today I was running errands nearby, and when it was time to eat I didn’t want to go too far, so I opened Dianping to search and saw this place has a pretty high rating, plus it had a group-buy voucher, so I came to try it.

I bought the 57-yuan group-buy set, which includes a pressure cooker fish head and a few side dishes. Honestly, at that price it’s quite a good deal; for one person it’s even a bit too much.

When I arrived there weren’t many people yet. The setting is fairly typical for a Hunan restaurant, clean and comfortable overall. The shop offers free sweet soup, and rice is self-service, which are two nice pluses.

I’d say the overall level of the dishes is decent, nothing special, just normal performance. The fish used in the pressure cooker fish head is pretty fresh and the meat texture isn’t a problem, but maybe it’s my personal taste, I felt the fish head itself wasn’t flavorful enough, especially the fish meat inside tasted slightly bland. If the sauce and fish could blend better, it would improve quite a bit.

Another small detail: my car was parked in the complex for almost two hours. Before leaving, I wanted to ask a staff member for a parking coupon. At that point it wasn’t quite two hours yet, but the staff wasn’t very willing to give one. I guess parking coupons also cost the business, which I can understand, but it made the experience slightly less pleasant.

Overall, this 57-yuan set is quite good value, the ingredients are relatively fresh, and there’s no obvious disappointing spot. I’d give it around 80 points. If the pressure cooker fish head were a bit more flavorful, the experience would be better.
