Review

I’ve been seeing Nu Huo Chuan Shao on Dianping a lot recently, and reviews seem pretty good. Today happened to be mealtime, so I came to give it a try.

I didn’t expect business to be so good—there was actually a queue to get in.

When I took a number, there were 7 tables ahead of me. I thought I’d have to wait a long time, but luckily turnover was quick, and I got in after about 20 minutes.

I really liked my first impression upon entering: bright, clean, and without the smoky, chaotic feel of traditional BBQ places. The whole environment looked comfortable, and the ingredients were all laid out for you to pick yourself—visible freshness, which was a plus.

I ordered their ‘Solitary Gourmet’ set meal as a solo diner, about 60 yuan. It had a rich variety of skewers, more than enough for one person—even a bit too much.

The key is still the taste. After eating, I felt the online praise was really not exaggerated. The ingredients were fresh, the grilled aroma was strong, and the heat control was on point. Basically no skewer felt like a miss.

If I compare it to ‘Chuan Xiao Shao’ that I’ve had before, I personally think Nu Huo Chuan Shao is even slightly better, especially the environment and overall dining experience are more comfortable.

I originally came just because the reviews were good, and it didn’t disappoint. Overall I’d give it 90 points, and I’ll come again if I have the chance.
