Songpan Station | When visiting Songpan, transportation really needs to be arranged in advance
This time we came to Songpan by high-speed rail to Songpan Station. This station is at quite a high altitude, and nearby there is also Huanglong Jiuzhai Station. Both of these stations should now be the more commonly used high-speed rail stations for going to Jiuzhaigou and Huanglong. If you plan to stay in Songpan Ancient Town, Songpan Station is relatively more convenient.
But there is one thing I must complain about: after leaving the high-speed rail station, getting a taxi is really not as convenient as I imagined.
We originally thought it would be like other cities, where you can just call a Didi or an online ride-hailing car. But after actually arriving, we found there were few cars, and the prices weren’t advantageous either. According to local drivers, private cars running ride-hailing services are strictly regulated here, so it’s basically still dominated by local taxis and chartered cars. I didn’t specifically check the policies, but as a tourist, the actual feeling is: limited taxi options, and transportation costs are on the high side.
Also, many attractions around Songpan don’t seem that far on the map, but as soon as a chartered car is involved, it easily costs three or four hundred yuan a day. These past few days going to Muni Valley, Huanglong, etc., transportation expenses really were a significant cost.
So friends planning to visit Songpan, Huanglong, Jiuzhaigou area, I suggest you arrange transportation in advance. If there are many people, you can negotiate chartered car prices in advance; if driving yourself is okay, I personally recommend self-driving even more, it’s much freer and you don’t have to worry about getting a car each time.
Songpan Station itself has no problems; what really needs attention is - after getting off the high-speed train, how to get around, it’s best to think about in advance.
