After finishing my errands today, it was just mealtime. I saw this Chaoshan beef hotpot place nearby and drove there in about fifteen minutes—very convenient. Since I arrived relatively early, there weren’t many people in the restaurant, and the dining environment was quite quiet.
Eating hotpot alone, I simply ordered half a jin of snowflake beef and half a jin of diaolong (ribeye cap). The soup base was 22 yuan, snowflake 95 yuan, and diaolong 69 yuan. Overall, the prices are fairly normal for Chaoshan beef hotpot. The cut of snowflake beef was good, with beautifully distributed marbling, but this time the snowflake was a bit fatty; it felt slightly greasy on the first bite, and eating too much could get cloying. In comparison, the diaolong was more satisfying—the meat was tender and springy, and just a few seconds of swishing made it very tasty.
In the end, I used a Dianping coupon, and the bill came to over 170 yuan—decent value for money. Overall, I’d give it 80 out of 100. The ingredient quality was on point, with no obvious shortcomings. If you haven’t tried Chaoshan beef hotpot much, this place is still worth a try. Judging by the boss’s manner of speaking and working, he’s likely a local Chaoshan native who is quite particular about beef quality.
