Jieyang Ancient City Zhongshan Qilou Street「揭阳古城中山骑楼街」

Review

Jieyang Zhongshan Road Qilou Street left quite an impression on me.

Many people come here to check in at one of the filming locations for the movie “Love Letter to Grandma”—Datie Street. This old street, once full of everyday life, now attracts many tourists taking photos thanks to the movie’s popularity. I saw many young girls posing for pictures, adding a youthful vibe to the area.

What I liked more, though, is the overall authenticity preserved in Jieyang Ancient City. Including Zhongshan Qilou Street, the architectural style and street layout remain relatively intact, without excessive commercial development.

Although there are some tourists and shops, the crowd is moderate. Strolling under the qilou (arcade buildings), looking at the old architecture, and feeling the locals’ pace of life is very pleasant.

Compared to some highly commercialized, overcrowded ancient towns, Jieyang Ancient City, with its preserved original life atmosphere, is more worth exploring at a leisurely pace. I personally quite like it.
