Fengshan Folk Culture Tourism Area「凤山民俗文化旅游区」

Review

Today I came to check in at Shanwei Fengshan Mazu Tourism Area. The most stunning thing here is the dozens-of-meters-tall Mazu stone statue, which can be seen from afar and is very spectacular, also one of Shanwei’s landmarks.

Inside the scenic area, besides the Mazu Temple, there is also a Chaoshan Folk Culture Museum. A combined ticket for both is only 15 yuan, which I think offers great value for money and is well worth a leisurely visit.

Compared to the Mazu Temple, I would actually recommend spending some time at the museum. It provides a detailed introduction to Chaoshan’s intangible cultural heritage, folk customs, religious beliefs, as well as food, clothing, housing, and transportation. The exhibits are rich and the presentation is systematic. For those visiting Chaoshan for the first time or wanting to understand Chaoshan culture, it is very informative.

I have always felt that the Chaoshan region preserves many traditional cultures and folk customs. Here, you can more intuitively experience the inheritance and continuation of Lingnan culture and traditional Chinese culture. If you travel to Shanwei, this place is not only suitable for taking photos but also worth calming down to learn about local humanities and history. Recommended for a visit.
