Today I was running errands nearby, and when it was time to eat, I opened Dianping and saw this Crystal Chicken place, which was on the must-eat list. I figured it couldn’t be too bad, so I went to try it.
It was raining a bit today, and their parking lot was completely full. I ended up parking in a nearby lot and walking about 10 minutes. When I arrived, the place was quite busy, with most tables occupied.
I originally wanted to order their signature Crystal Chicken, but a whole chicken costs 136 RMB, and I couldn’t finish it alone. I asked if I could order half, but they said no. So I switched to a dry-fried chicken rice noodles (76 RMB) and a serving of medicinal herb chicken feet (28 RMB).
The chicken in the dry-fried chicken rice noodles was quite fragrant, and the flavor was decent. However, the portion of rice noodles was really large for one person; I only managed to eat about half. The medicinal herb chicken feet were quite good—28 RMB for half a portion, about 8 pieces, and I finished almost all of them. The broth had a light herbal aroma, sweet and not greasy—this dish was a highlight.
Overall, as a must-eat list restaurant, I think it fell a bit short of expectations—nothing particularly impressive. Even the Crystal Chicken I saw others ordering was cut into large pieces, not very refined.
In summary, the taste wasn’t bad, and the business was indeed good, but it didn’t wow me. I’d give it a 75 out of 100. If you’re passing by, you can give it a try, but whether it’s worth a special trip depends on your expectations.
