Chen's Small Food Stall (Pingbei Branch)「陈记小排档(平北店)」

Review

Today at mealtime, I came to check out this Chen Ji food stall near Jade Street. I’d had it bookmarked for a while, and happened to pass by, so I came to give it a try.

After looking at the menu, I ended up ordering a beef brisket wonton noodle soup. After finishing, I’d give it about 75 points overall—a decent, middle-of-the-road bowl of noodles.

The beef brisket was a bit lacking for me—it wasn’t braised soft and tender enough; the noodles also had slightly less bounce, and the wontons were a bit overcooked and mushy. Fortunately, the soup base was still good, quite flavorful, which pulled the overall experience back up a bit.

If you simply want a bowl of noodles in the area, it’s worth a try. But if I had to choose between the two, I personally still think the beef brisket wonton noodles at the Zhusheng noodle shop in the center of Yuqi Street are tastier.

The two places aren’t too far apart, so if you’re interested, you can compare them yourself and see which one you prefer.
