That day after eating, I happened to need to find a place with a friend to sit down and chat about something, so I searched nearby and found this little shop. The rating looked good and the price wasn’t expensive, so I came to try it.

Only after arriving did I realize it was really quite small.

There seemed to be only two or three seats inside, and at the door there were one or two outdoor seats. It’s the kind of small shop you might walk right past if you don’t look carefully.

They mainly make yuanyang milk tea and lemon tea. I saw a drink on the menu called ‘Intangible Cultural Heritage Salted Buffalo Milk Yuanyang.’ I’d never had it before, and it immediately caught my attention, so I ordered a small cup for 13 yuan.

The first sip was quite special.

It’s not the sweet taste of ordinary milk tea; instead, the milk aroma is very strong, and there’s a slight saltiness on the palate. The saltiness doesn’t feel strange; instead, it makes the milk aroma stand out even more. It tastes very rich and mellow, a flavor I’ve rarely had before.

Later, after chatting with the owner, I learned that they use buffalo milk from the Jinbang area of Shunde. Buffalo milk itself is richer in milk fat and has a stronger milk aroma. Many traditional Shunde double-skin milk desserts also use this kind of milk, so no wonder this cup tasted so milky.

I myself actually don’t like drinks that immediately taste heavily of syrup or concentrate; I prefer drinks where the flavor of the raw ingredients is more obvious.

At 13 yuan a cup, I think the value for money is quite high, and the taste really has its own characteristics.

If you happen to pass by, you can try this salted buffalo milk yuanyang. Especially if you usually like a stronger milk aroma but don’t want it too sweet, I think you’ll like it.
