Today I was running errands nearby. I’d actually had this mee sua soup place saved for quite a long time, and I happened to pass by, so I came to check it off my list.

I saw a set for two for just over thirty yuan on Dianping, and thought the price wasn’t expensive, so I bought one to try. I’d had mee sua soup in Zhangzhou, Fujian before, and I’d always remembered the taste quite clearly, so I also wanted to see how this place did it.

The owner was very polite, and before long the food started arriving. To be honest, after everything was served, my first reaction was: just over thirty yuan gets you this much?

The table was filled to the brim, and I couldn’t finish it all by myself.

First, the mee sua soup: they added nourishing medicinal ingredients like Chinese angelica. As soon as it arrived, I could smell a very obvious aroma. The broth was very comforting, and the mee sua soup had the texture I like. It was already very close to the flavor I had in Fujian before, which was a pleasant surprise.

The braised beef steak in the set was also good, very well seasoned, and the meat was fragrant. There were also leafy greens, beef soup, and so on. Anyway, eating this set for two by myself was really a bit of a stretch.

Getting so much food for just over thirty yuan, I think the value for money is quite good.

Finally, there was a small thing that left me with a particularly good impression of this place. My friend’s electric scooter happened to be out of battery, and when he asked the owner if he could charge it at the shop, the owner agreed without a second word, very readily.

Sometimes what makes a small shop worth returning to is not just whether the food is good, but also how the owner treats people. The food is solid, the price isn’t expensive, and the owner is so enthusiastic. I’m still willing to support a place like this.

Friends nearby who want to eat Fujian mee sua soup can come and try it; I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
