Review

After watching The Odyssey, we came to eat Dongguan roast goose, and the most impressive dish here was the roast goose

Today I went with friends to South China Mall to see The Odyssey on the IMAX GT giant screen. After the movie it was already after 7 p.m., and we drove nearly an hour, arriving at this restaurant around 8:10 p.m.

Since we were already in Dongguan, roast goose was definitely on the agenda

After all, “coming to Dongguan without eating roast goose is almost a wasted trip.”

After sitting down, we ordered a few dishes:

🦆 Signature roast goose | 80 points

This was indeed the most memorable dish of the night. The goose skin was roasted quite crispy, with a nice aroma on the palate. Overall it was quite delicious, and it was the dish that best met expectations in this meal.

🥘 Braised abalone, chicken feet, and pork trotters | 118 yuan | 60 points

This one was actually a bit disappointing. I had relatively high expectations, but there were only two abalone, and the pork trotters were not as soft and tender as I expected. The flavor wasn’t bad, but at 118 yuan, I think the value for money was just average.

🍲 Dried tangerine peel pork broth | 88 yuan

Originally I wanted to order lotus root and pork soup, but unfortunately it was sold out by the time we arrived, so we had to switch to dried tangerine peel pork broth. Overall it was okay, the flavor was fairly steady, but not particularly amazing.

🍖 Dry-steamed pork tongue and spare ribs

This dish was average, with decent flavor and no obvious shortcomings. Overall about 75 points.

To sum up:

This meal was not bad overall, but compared with my expectations before coming, it fell a little short. What really impressed me was the roast goose; the other dishes were basically at the level of “edible, but not particularly amazing.”

If you come here specifically to eat, I personally think the roast goose is worth ordering, and you can choose the other dishes according to your own preferences.

After The Odyssey was already stunning enough, another order of Dongguan roast goose in the evening was a nice way to cap off this movie trip. 😋 The total cost was just under 400 yuan, and the value for money was not particularly high~~
