Today, I came to Hailing Island with a friend. It happened to be mealtime, so I opened Dianping to search for nearby places to eat. As we drove along, we saw many shops advertising ‘Goose Mother Rice,’ and we were curious about what it was, so we wanted to try it.
Originally, we planned to go to the neighboring shop ‘Big Bull,’ but it was closed, so we ended up here. The choice was simple: during mealtime, this shop had the most customers on the street, with people even queuing outside, so it seemed promising.
We ordered a small portion of Goose Mother Rice for 15 yuan, a serving of White Cut Goose for 40 yuan, and a bowl of Fish Ball Soup for 15 yuan. Overall, we were very satisfied. Our first meal successfully avoided any pitfalls.
The White Cut Goose was better than expected—tender, flavorful, and the soy sauce on top was just right, not overpowering. The Goose Mother Rice was also fragrant, with distinct grains and a wok hei aroma. The biggest surprise was the Fish Ball Soup: 15 yuan for a large bowl, perfect for two, with a light broth and decent fish balls.
Overall, this place offers good value for money and consistent taste. I’m glad our first meal on Hailing Island didn’t disappoint. If you want to try Goose Mother Rice, this is a good spot.
