Review

This is a long-established Hunan restaurant on Jade Street, probably over ten years old. The dining scene on Jade Street has always been highly competitive, and the fact that this place has lasted this long shows it has something going for it.

I’ve noticed they don’t rely much on marketing or flashy promotions; instead, they build their reputation through taste and word-of-mouth from regulars. It’s a solid, capable old shop.

Today I suddenly craved something spicy, so I came for a simple meal. Since I was alone and couldn’t order many dishes, I got a thunder pepper preserved egg and a bowl of rice. Honestly, the thunder pepper preserved egg was really good—spicy enough, fragrant, and very appetizing with rice. I got so into it that I forgot to take a photo. In the end, I finished the whole plate cleanly, with almost nothing left.

I think the most valuable thing about this old restaurant is its consistency. You don’t have to worry about a bad meal or overthink your order. When you want Hunan food, you can just come with your eyes closed. Another thing I like is their open kitchen—you can basically see the chef cooking, so it’s not pre-made food reheated, which gives me more confidence.

Overall, it’s an old Jade Street shop worth supporting—solid flavors, reasonable prices, and perfect for when you want home-style Hunan food or something spicy.
