Last month, I visited this place called Chuan Xiaobai BBQ with friends. I had passed by several times before but always avoided it due to long queues. Unexpectedly, this time there was a seat available, so we decided to give it a try.
Upon entering, the first impression was that it’s really popular—almost full, with a lively atmosphere. We ordered several of their signature skewers. The quality was indeed different from ordinary BBQ; the ingredients were very fresh, and the meat was springy, not like the heavy frozen texture.
The flavor was also memorable. The seasoning wasn’t overly strong, but the more you ate, the more fragrant it became—the kind that grows on you. The skewers in the picture, with a bit of char, had perfect heat control—crispy on the outside, tender inside, very satisfying.
Overall, it’s easy to see why it’s so popular:

In a word: Don’t be put off by the entrance; this kind of place often “keeps a low profile but has real substance,” worth a special trip.
