That day, a friend treated us to dinner at Hu Laoda. There were five of us in total. There’s also a branch in Pingzhou, but this time we came to the flagship store in Nanhai, which felt more spacious.
The environment inside was nice, with ample space and a comfortable dining atmosphere. We ordered a fish and a few home-style dishes, and the pacing of the dishes was steady.
Their specialty is “fresh ingredients, original flavor.” The overall taste is the kind that grows on you—not particularly stunning, but reliable. A distinctive feature is the large pot cooked over firewood, giving a strong smoky flavor, a bit of a return to tradition.
Overall, it’s suitable for gatherings with friends. You come for the atmosphere and the taste of the ingredients themselves—not fancy, but solid.
