Wangping Street Night Market「望平街夜市」

Review

Wangping Street is one of Chengdu’s better places for an evening stroll. It’s right in the city center, by the river, and very convenient to get to.

We came at night, and the whole street was quite lively. Along the way there are many coffee shops, bars, and all kinds of small stores, with plenty to eat and drink. You don’t have to look for a specific shop; just walking slowly along the river and popping into whatever catches your eye feels more comfortable.

I think its biggest advantage is the location—you don’t need to travel far, and the whole area has a nice vibe. Especially after the lights come on at night, it’s really pleasant to feel the river breeze, have a coffee, or sit in a bar for a while.

If it’s your first time in Chengdu and you don’t know where to go at night but don’t want to go too far, you can come to Wangping Street for a walk. The area isn’t very big, so you don’t need to set aside too much time. It’s a pretty good stop for Chengdu nightlife.
