After finishing some errands today, it was mealtime, and I suddenly craved Putian cuisine, especially lychee pork. So I came to this Good Brothers restaurant. It’s been open for many years on Jade Street and is considered an old shop; I’ve eaten here a few times before.
Today, there were just two of us… (actually one), so I ordered a small portion of braised noodles for 30 yuan and a serving of lychee pork for 48 yuan.
First, the braised noodles: I think they were good, similar to what I’ve had in Putian. The broth was quite fresh, and the small portion even included one shrimp and one abalone. For 30 yuan, I think it’s reasonable, and the portion was enough for one person.
The lychee pork came out a bit slowly. The portion was generous, and it was fried crispy, likely marinated and battered beforehand. But today, it tasted a bit too salty; a few pieces were fine, but more became greasy. I only ate half and packed the rest.
I feel that compared to two years ago, the quality isn’t as impressive anymore—maybe the chef changed. Or perhaps it was just an off day. Anyway, it won’t disappoint, but don’t expect too much. It’s a reliable old shop when you crave Putian cuisine.
