A friend took me to a newly opened private kitchen near his home. The chef turned out to be a former executive chef from a five-star hotel in Shanghai. Tonight’s menu was specially customized by my friend. From the first course, I was amazed. The drunken prawns with preserved plums were a blend of sweet and sour, with delicate sauce, reminiscent of the refinement and gentleness of Shanghai locals. The steak with foie gras: the steak was tender and juicy, the foie gras melted in the mouth, the aroma of fat lingering between lips and teeth. The saffron beef tongue was fragrant, sticky, and smooth. The restaurant focuses on counter dining, with intricate handmade dishes full of warmth. The boss is a Shanghainese, with a perfect grasp of flavors. The lighting was soft, the atmosphere quiet, highly recommended.
